Each container in the Colorful Life project, designed by Sheng-Hsin Hsu, is painted primarily in white and splashed with distinguishing colors, transforming them into unique art-creation studios. The diverse design skills applied to each container have brought forth a rich tapestry of art cultures.
The service center, painted in white and splashed with diverse colors, features wood tables and chairs, rattan and leather couches, and a reception counter designed based on the concept of the Five Elements, a traditional Chinese philosophy that describes the relationships of everything in the universe. This combination of distinct materials and colors creates a powerful and vibrant atmosphere within the space.
The public area, surrounded by plantings, serves as an exhibition space for art works. It presents a dynamic integration of space, art creations, and human beings, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the artistic atmosphere.
The Colorful Life project spans 143 square meters and was completed in January 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan. It showcases the potential of container houses for artistic displays and addresses the issue of metallic waste through their recycling characteristics. Additionally, the project aims to foster a connection between artists and the public by providing an area for family participation in art activities.
The mobility of the container houses has made art more accessible and known to the public, attracting attention and intrigue. The Colorful Life project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
